I completed my BA in Philology (English and French) at UAIC Iași in 2024, where I developed a strong interest in cultural studies. My thesis focused on gender and queer studies, and their respective intersections with mental health, examining U.S. literary and cultural contexts, specifically the Lavender Scare in the 1950s. Through this research, I explored how identity is constructed and represented, particularly in relation to gender and sexuality, and gained valuable insights into the cultural frameworks shaping these narratives.
The British Cultural Studies MA programme aligns with my academic interests and offers a platform to broaden my research into identity by incorporating British perspectives. I am particularly drawn to the opportunity to explore the intersection of culture, gender, and queerness in a new context, complementing my previous work on U.S.-based perspectives.
Ultimately, I believe this programme will allow me to deepen my understanding of cultural studies and refine my analytical framework, enabling me to engage with this interdisciplinary field in a more nuanced way and contribute meaningfully to its ongoing discourse.
