My academic interests focus on literary and cultural studies, with a particular investment in questions of adaptation, intertextuality, and the ways in which stories travel across media and historical contexts. My BA research paper, “Going Beyond the Myth: Adapting the Legend of Amleth in Robert Eggers’ The Northman” examined the theory of adaptation and challenged the idea that adaptations signal a decline in creativity. Through comparative analysis, I explored how reimagined narratives can spark new cultural meanings and aesthetic possibilities. As a philology graduate and ESL teacher, I am deeply engaged in issues of language acquisition and cross-cultural communication.
Building on my background in English literature and my interest in contemporary reinterpretations of classical narratives, this MA programme felt as a natural “next-step” in my aspiring academic career given that it allows me to refine my analytical and research skills, all while encouraging critical inquiry and the creative re-evaluation of myths and canonical texts.
