My academic interests encompass a wide range of fields: from history, legends, and mythology to linguistics and the many ways in which the identity of a person or group is shaped by culture. My BA thesis focused on the translation of a novella from Hebrew to Romanian and a thematic analysis of the novella. This analysis involved looking at each character’s behavior and appearance and also linking them to the title of the novella, named The Handkerchief. The handkerchief represents a symbolic item that is also examined in my BA thesis and is of great importance to the relationship of the characters with each other, with God and with the world they live in. Another part of my analysis examined Jewish customs and their role in shaping the characters’ lives and identity as individuals or as part of a group.
Given that I’ve long been interested in how identity is shaped across different cultures and that I am also passionate about English linguistics and culture, this MA programme constitutes a great opportunity for me to extend my knowledge and improve my research abilities. Moreover, I would like to explore areas such as British history, myths, and legends.
