My scholarly interests lie in postcolonial studies, as well as the Marxist and post-Marxist approaches to culture. In my BA research practice essay I used as primary source the book Orientalism by Edward Said in order to highlight the biases regarding the East in Romantic poems, such as the works of Byron or Coleridge, but also analyze the sociopolitical legacy of such biases.
I see this MA programme as a natural progression of my academic path, as it combines my interest regarding British culture, history and politics, with my concern for the legacy of its imperial domination and the narratives of those whose it oppressed. The research topics and conditions of this MA programme are clearly the right environment for such preoccupations to blossom.
